Aqua's Cradily

Cradily, the Barnacle Pokemon.

Cradily is one of my all time faves. When the Ruby and Sapphire games came to the Netherlands, I was only 7 years old, and I hadn't really played 'that' much pokemon, aside from sometimes playing Yellow version in Spanish T-T Or Pokemon Chrystal.

But I liked the Pokemon games nonetheless. The first Pokemon game I got for myself was Pokemon Leaf Green, in 2004. But before that I played on my older brother's Sapphire. He wasn't the biggest Pokemon fan anymore and said I could erase his safe file; and so I did. I started out with Treecko, I think. My playtime was 317 hours. And I'm disaoppinted that within those 317 hours I never got around to training a Cradily (well, 22 levels, but that's nothing)

Cradily was a fossil Pokemon, the first line after Aerodactyl's and with a unique typing a unique Pokemon.

With a decent defensive stats, usable abilities and a supporting movepool, Cradily can be one helluva support, with the ability to stall as well. Moves like Recover, Stealth Rock and Toxic can keep Cradily in the field while watching the enmy die. With Curse, this Pokemon can also be used to wipe out some of your enemies. With 2 types with the most weaknesses, Cradily comes down to four weaknesses, none of them hitting 4x. That's not bad, knowing you'll get two STABs out of that. Hidden power is always a usefull choice, but it's a bit of a bugger to get it right.

As Sleep Talker, Cradily performs fairly well too. Suction Cup can keep you in the battlefield while waiting out the toxic or Curse-sweeping their asses with a Rock Slide or Seed Bomb. Also, with an equally powerful Sp. Attack, it can come as an surprise to your enemies when you Energy Ball them down.

And, besides its uses in NU and RU, Cradily has an awesome design;

It's a plant, with little stubby legs and a tail. Besides that, its eyes are glowing on the pitch black inside of its head, surrounded by eight (according to Bulbapedia, nine? In the manga picture it shows eight) tentacles, resembling flower petals. I'm very fond of its color scheme and the fact its so defensive as it is. Also, the fact that its tentacles can secrete corrosive acid, without it being Poison, is kinda cool

So, Cradily is an awesome Pokemon, with an amazing concept and an even better design, certainly in my top 5.

Noone guessed this one, but the next one will be Ice!
